Our short vacation in the Zillertal Alps started on Wednesday.
On the first day, we went skiing in the Kaltenbach ski area. Unfortunately, the weather was very foggy, so we had poor visibility. But at least the slopes were almost empty.
On Thursday, the weather was hardly better, so we decided to visit the Hintertux Glacier. There is an accessible crevasse there. The cable car ride up to over 3000m would have been a highlight under different circumstances, but the view was unfortunately quite foggy. However, the guided tour inside the glacier was very interesting and highly recommended. Instead of the stated one hour, the tour lasted almost 2 hours and 30 minutes under the ice. It was a comfortable 0°C temperature compared to the -15°C outside. Afterward, we went sledging for a bit.
On Friday, the desired good skiing weather finally arrived, and we enjoyed the good slopes and the sun. However, these advantages attracted quite a crowd to the slopes, so we couldn't get anything to eat in the mountain huts at noon. In the evening, there was some wellness, delicious food and wine, and really good party music on the agenda.
On Saturday, Corona spoiled our plans, and we had to leave immediately.
