Sunday = Funday!

Diterbitkeun: 17.10.2022

Now the second weekend here has passed. Unbelievable how quickly time flies!

For me, today's Sunday meant sleeping in because it was much needed after last night. We had friends and family over and enjoyed chili and cake together. Afterward, we watched 'The Goonies' - a cool movie that I can recommend!

Breakfast was served at 09:30. And what a breakfast it was: Pumpkin French Toast Casserole with maple syrup - a dream! We sat in the kitchen for a while and chatted, and then I went outside with my host brother and host father for some fresh air. There is a beautiful trail just around the corner from our house. The beginning of the trail is about 50 meters from our front door, and there is a frog there that is dressed up according to the occasion. In line with Halloween, the frog is dressed as a zombie frog.

We took a short walk and tested out my host brother's new toy. It was a lot of fun!

At 13:30, the next adventure began - go-karting! It was my first time, and I can say it was incredibly fun. There was a track with more speed and a track with less speed. Our group split almost evenly between the two. Each person drove two laps, and then we all went home with a smile on our faces. By the way, there was a small accident on the slower track, and everyone briefly stopped, but I didn't see how it happened because I wasn't looking.

After this adventure, we quickly drove to the supermarket to pick up a few things. Even in the supermarket, there was a Halloween atmosphere right at the entrance.

Next on the plan: Thanksgiving dinner. All of us gathered at Washington High School, mostly with family, and brought a typical Thanksgiving meal. For us, it was a delicious pumpkin pie.

There were a thousand different things, from salad to mac and cheese to turkey. Everything was super delicious! After we finally had something savory, we took individual family photos and a big group photo of all the students - of course, with all the teachers as well.

Overall, the evening and the whole day were amazing!

But it wasn't over yet! After dinner at the school, I went to a haunted house with my host Isak, Frieda, and Frieda's host Pashmina. Frieda and I were so excited. Isak and Pashmina had been to haunted houses in previous years, but they told us that the theme changes every year. They were also curious!

After a short wait in line, we went inside. Frieda clung to my arm like a monkey, but it was so cool. To be honest, we both screamed the entire time, but we had so much fun. People jumped out from the darkness on both sides, and the actors played their roles incredibly well. Wow!

PS: Taking pictures was unfortunately not allowed. My phone almost got eaten by one of the characters!

With a scratchy throat from all the screaming, I'm going to bed and looking forward to tomorrow at school. It's also great there.

In the meantime, the second weekend here in America has also passed. Incredible how fast time flies!

This Sunday, I slept in because yesterday we had friends and family over for an evening of eating and watching movies. We had chili and different kinds of cake. After that, we watched the movie 'The Goonies' - it's a funny movie, and I highly recommend it!

At 09:30, we had breakfast. My host mom made Pumpkin French Toast Casserole - it was a dream! We sat in the kitchen and talked for a while, and then I went outside for some fresh air with my host brother and host father. There is a beautiful trail just around the corner from our house. The beginning of the trail is about 50 meters from our front door, and there is a frog there that is dressed up according to the time of year.
