Day 16: Sydney the Second

Diterbitkeun: 17.07.2024

Today was all about sleeping in. We were greeted with blue skies and sunshine.

Since Vegemite was also available at the hotel breakfast, we decided to give it a try. It is one of the Australian culinary highlights, said to be either loved or hated. We all agreed - it's not our taste.

After breakfast, we walked to Circular Quay. In the early morning, a cruise ship had docked at the cruise terminal and dominated the view.

But we wanted to get out of the city anyway and took the bus to Bondi Beach.

Oxford Street - reminds a bit of London

There wasn't much going on at this huge surfer beach today, probably due to the relatively high waves.

Right on the coast, there is a seawater swimming pool. With the high waves today, some of the waves splashed directly into the pool. Bondi Beach led to a Coastal Walk more or less directly along the coast to Coogee Beach. Along the way, there were always great views of the rugged coast and numerous bays with more or less beach.

From Coogee Beach, we then took the bus and then the train back to Circular Quay.

In the evening, our son had a meeting with a former classmate who has been living in Sydney for a year. The four of us found an Asian restaurant in the vicinity of the hostel for dinner. We also had to pack our suitcases again - tomorrow morning we fly to the Outback.
For the record: Accommodation: YHA Sydney Harbour, Sydney Mode of transportation: by bus and train Distance walked: 15 km Weather: Sunshine at 20°C, showers in the evening
