First the good news. The luggage was completely on board when we departed. Now the bad news: We hardly saw the sun today, it was cold and there were occasional showers, but never intense enough to require rain gear. However, the wind has significantly decreased compared to the past few days.
Strictly speaking, we didn't start from Dresden today, but from Bannewitz, a suburb where we were able to stay overnight with Uwe and Andrea, just like two years ago. Bannewitz is already quite high up, so the first 13 km to the Elbe River were easily manageable. This was followed by a very beautiful route through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and the Saxon Switzerland (it would have been even more beautiful in the sun). Shortly after Bad Schandau, we crossed the Czech border, which is still marked here with the Czechoslovak coat of arms. A short time later, we arrived in Děčín, where we realized that the chosen accommodation was quite far outside and also located very high up on the mountain. We didn't quite have that in mind when booking, otherwise we would have definitely chosen an alternative. If we can find something to eat up here, we will skip an evening stroll through the old town.
