Day 7: Tvedestrand and Faervik

Diterbitkeun: 12.07.2019

Now it is time to leave Oslo and move on. The city with its 634,000 inhabitants offers a lot and we like it. The people are nice and give us friendly hints. Unfortunately, we also see beggars, mostly of foreign origin. The city is very expensive. We think Copenhagen is expensive, but Oslo tops it by far. Especially the food is expensive. A meal costs between 15 and 25 euros per person. And that adds up for 4 people. We try to keep costs in mind.
After initial problems with the parking garage, as the system with the credit card is a bit unclear, we get the exit. The cost of parking is 100 euros for the 3 days. But the hotel is right in the center and we save on public transportation.
The city center is surprisingly empty due to many restrictions for car drivers. So after a few minutes we are out of the city and heading southwest. We use the E18 motorway. Around noon, we stop at a lake and have a snack there.
The landscape is characterized by many mixed forests with lakes or fjords. Around 3 pm we reach Tvedestrand. The small town on the fjord consists of white wooden houses that extend through the town on different levels. We stroll through the alleys to the harbor. There is a lot going on both on the water and on land in the cafes. The town is a book village, with 20 antiquarian bookstores. More than 300,000 books are offered on more than 7.5 kilometers of bookshelf length. The small town is nice to look at and after 1 hour of walking we are back in the car. Ready for the final leg to Faervik at the Island Guest House. A bed & breakfast with a view of the fjord. We are warmly welcomed and shown our room. The room is small, but sufficient for one night. Erik sleeps a little higher under the roof in a small niche. He is excited. We immediately use the hot pool outside. The children splash around happily. Then I cook dinner and we end the day with a cider.

Tvedestrand sieht sehr gemütlich aus, ganz mein Geschmack.
