Lagos - Caves, Beaches, and Street Art

Diterbitkeun: 12.10.2024

Today, I treat myself to a really good breakfast. Together with Simone, I eat at a café before she leaves Lagos. I stay a bit longer and walk to the coastal point in Lagos. There is quite a lot happening there, and I quickly understand why: the rock formations along the coast are unique and form caves. The lighthouse soon becomes a secondary photo subject.

Of course, there are a few beaches too; at one, you can go through a rock tunnel to reach another small beach. Eventually, the wooden walkways stop, and asphalt begins. In the city center, parts of the city wall are preserved. Additionally, there is a fortress right by the water, churches, a few houses adorned with artistic tile work, and some impressive graffiti to discover.

I skip all the restaurants and eat my own packed sandwich. For that, I visit quite a few shops. In one, I find earrings - two days ago, I noticed that one seemed to have fallen out of my ear, and I want to replace it. Moreover, my shoes are even more holey and smelly than before, and the sand will probably never completely come out. So, I dispose of them and buy cheap new ones that I put on right away.

In between, it rains a bit, but not as heavily as I expected due to a warning I received via SMS yesterday. I end the evening comfortably with some instant noodles and hostel conversations.
