We take a taxi to the Wild Rover party hostel. We're not allowed to check in until 3pm, so we leave our backpacks at the hostel and walk into town for breakfast. We explore the Major Plaza, treat ourselves to an expensive cocktail and then make our way back to the hostel. When we get there we take a little nap until we are woken up at 7 a.m. with a shot by the hostel staff. We drag ourselves out of bed and go to the hostel's own pub to have dinner. We play killer pool, get our faces painted and take advantage of happy hour 🥳
The next morning we wake up with a hangover and have absolutely no desire to go on the city tour we booked for today. We end up putting this off until the next day and spending the whole day just eating.
On the city tour the next day we visit ruins of the past Inca culture - really impressive. However, we realize once again that we don't like tours like this at all because you don't have time to look at things in detail. We rush from one temple to the next, learn about the history of the Incas and alpaca wool production and end the tour by buying a book about Cusco 🥸.
We spend the evenings watching documentaries about the Incas, the three of us squeezed into a 90 cm bed. Although there is a party every day in our hostel, the first evening was enough for us so that we just wanted to chill out for the remaining two evenings 😅
Our illness/injury record continues to rise. Asma slips on the wet floor after yoga and injures her foot, Lissi has an allergic reaction and therefore a swollen eye (face). Running with us! 😀
Day 5 in Cusco. We absolutely don't feel like leaving the house and wish the 4 day tour to Machu Picchu wasn't tomorrow. But since we absolutely have to do laundry, we start looking for a laundry - which turns out to be more difficult than expected. We finally find one and arrange with the guy that we will pick up our laundry at 7 a.m. In the city we do the necessary shopping: hats, gloves, sunglasses. At 6 p.m. we will be briefed by our guide for the 4 day tour. Nobody really listens because everyone assumes that the others are already listening... oh man 😶🌫️ After the breefing we drive back to the laundry, which tells us that it's 8 a.m. because the laundry isn't finished yet. Frustrated, we walk back to the Airbnb, start packing up our stuff and then walk back to the laundry at 8 a.m. to be put off again. We wait there for about half an hour. The time to cook is becoming increasingly scarce. We walk to an ATM because we need cash for the tour and then we also have to go shopping because we are out of vegetable broth and really want to make broccoli soup so that we can start the tour refreshed. At some point around 10 a.m. we finally got back to the Airbnb. That's when the poop really starts to steam... Scholle notices that her laundry is still completely wet, she doesn't have any clothes for the next few days and she completely freaks out (understandably). Asma and Scholle are over it for a moment and Lissi prefers to hide in the kitchen. But after a few minutes we all caught ourselves again and started looking for solutions. We iron and blow dry the clothes for hours.
We then go to sleep around 2 a.m. The alarm clock will ring in 4 hours...
