This morning after breakfast, I unfortunately checked my emails and saw that my flight back to Germany was cancelled. Wow, it's a really shitty feeling!
Now I'm stuck here indefinitely because it's really difficult to find a new flight. The hostel owner informed us (there are 2 other French people here with me) that all flights for the next few days will be cancelled, which made the situation even more dramatic.
Of course, on a Sunday, you can't reach the German embassy here, so I don't know what to do. We agreed with the hostel owner that he will go to the police tomorrow morning to find out the current situation and hopefully get an idea of what to do next. I also want to call the embassy tomorrow and ask for their assessment of the situation.
Due to the curfew here, which has been in place since Friday 6 PM until Monday 6 AM, the situation is even more difficult. Because starting from Monday 2 PM, the curfew will be imposed again and in Colombo, the curfew will even last until Tuesday. So you can't just quickly go to Colombo and find a hostel there to get to the airport faster, because a valid flight ticket is also required as a pass.
Besides, you never know if the hostel you booked is actually still open...
Everything is not easy and really difficult! There's not much to do at the moment except wait for tomorrow and hope for better news. Well, at least we could distract ourselves a little by cooking together for lunch and having delicious burgers for dinner as comfort food, which I really needed, I have to admit :D
