Yes, the city is built on 59 volcanoes, some of which are still partially active. The last eruption was 600 years ago. We live near one of them, Mount Eden, in the 'Eden Villa B&B'.
It was almost 300 km from Omapere with a slight detour. But we arrived here early enough to explore the city a bit. It only took a short walk from our accommodation to Mount Eden. The view is the best you can have of the entire city. We also took a city bus to the city center. We strolled along the large harbor wharves, filled with huge luxury yachts. The harbor district here also seems to be particularly hip, with stylish restaurants, cool bars, and chic apartment buildings, of course, with 'small' boats in front of them.
Our trip through New Zealand is almost over. Tomorrow we will fly to Fiji. No idea what the Wi-Fi situation will be like there. The travel diary may rest for a few days.
