We entered Montenegro. The sun was still shining when we left Shkoder. After a few minutes, we reached the border of Montenegro. It went smoothly here too. Some time and calmness are needed as customs officers do not work on a conveyor belt, one works and four watch...
Right behind the border, Montenegro gave the impression that it is even poorer here than in Albania. This impression changed during the trip. 150 km were announced, it took us about 3 hours. Our Garmin GPS sent us another shortcut: off the national road, 10 km narrow asphalt track, 2 km saved. Great device!
Along the coast, you can see a lot of ugly construction. Around the old, beautiful town centers, concrete sins in the worst Mallorca style are being built. There are no more free beaches, all bays are built and "touristified". Thank God there are still a few nice spots. One of them is Sveti Stefan (see picture).
We landed in another beautiful corner. Trivatski Zaliv is a fjord that stretches a few kilometers inland. The old buildings dominate here. There are no high-rise buildings, everything looks idyllic. When we crossed the fjord on a ferry, it started raining briefly. It is supposed to stay wet tonight and tomorrow. We found our overnight spot 100 m from the sea by a small river. The river is only 13° warm and there are plenty of trout. We just had a long walk with Ziva, are currently enjoying a beer, and will have another travel day tomorrow. The plan is to have a few rest days on the Peljesac Peninsula, in southern Croatia. We hope the weather will cooperate.
