After spending the 13th day sleeping, eating, and dozing, we took advantage of the 14th day to see some of São Paulo. Gigi has created a very loving and detailed list for us with everything we need to see, eat, and experience. And so our goal for today was the Municipal Market (Mercadão), a huge market in the historic center of São Paulo. As our chosen public transportation, we took the bus, which turned out to be a bit difficult. Very few people here speak English, which makes communication difficult, there are no names at the bus stops, and there are no announcements or displays on the bus. Still, we somehow made it to downtown and then somehow to the Mercadão in pouring rain. We started our culinary journey through the many different delicacies with a very fine and typical Mortadela Sandwich. For dessert, we tried all kinds of Brazilian fruits. Tasting is normal here, but you should also buy something afterwards to not offend the vendors. Afterward, we took the bus back to our host family, where we ended the evening comfortably with pizza and beer.
