Feb 7th: After Fa complains of severe pain in her right foot in the morning and adamantly refuses to put any weight on her foot, we decide to go directly to a hospital. The nearest hospital, Bunbury Hospital, is about 50km away. Upon arrival, the doctors order an X-ray and a blood test. Hours pass, even though the hospital has many 'fast lanes' in place. Unfortunately, it seems that all the patients are on this fast lane. In the late afternoon, we leave the hospital with a cast on her leg. The X-ray shows a foot fracture and Fa is not allowed to put any weight on her foot for now. We are scheduled to come back in about a week for a follow-up. Having a child with a cast makes the road trip a bit more challenging, so we need to rearrange our plans. We decide to continue driving down the coast, but only as far as Bunbury so that we can have the same doctors take care of our little patient. It's not how we envisioned it, but it's not the end of the world either. We get her crutches, which our four-year-old thinks are really cool. Fa handles the situation well and doesn't complain. Not even when we arrive at the best campground ever, with a huge inflatable pillow and pool, and an amazing playground. All activities that she now has to skip. Our mobility is limited now, but we just turn the stroller into a makeshift wheelchair for the kids. And Le is now carried around in the Bondolino carrier. The third member of our team is the most unhappy because Ma has to 'walk' by herself...
