So my dear, now it's not long until we're back home.
It feels strange already, knowing that it's almost over. I feel like I just boarded the plane home yesterday. Time flies so quickly. We experience so many things! Sometimes we struggle to even know what day of the week it is, since the supermarkets are open on Sundays as well :D We had booked a snorkeling day in the nearby lagoon. However, the weather is currently quite windy, so our trip was cancelled because it's not possible to go out to sea, let alone swim in it. So we could take some more time in Whakatane and explore many things in the city and go hiking. Actually, we wanted to do the White Island tour 2 days later. On this tour, you drive 1.5 hours to a volcano that is still active. A guide takes you around the volcano and tells you about the region and the volcano, and then you drive 1.5 hours back and can tell everyone that you took a walk on a real active volcano, which last erupted in 2013 :D Unfortunately, the weather was again very windy and not very nice, so this tour was also cancelled. Since we still have some time, we simply drove to the next city the next day, because we thought maybe the weather will be better in a week and then we'll come back and try again. So we made our way to Rotorua.
