Слатка доколица на Нилу и Ком Омбоу

Објављено: 20.03.2023

We have been longing for a day when we don't have to get up before 5 o'clock - today is the day. The only attraction on the agenda is the Kom Ombo Temple, which we will visit at sunset.

Otherwise, it's all about relaxing and letting the Nile riverbank pass by.

I go up to the deck and admire the green, fertile landscape that is passing by. Every now and then, a train overtakes us, and the tracks seem to follow along the Nile. It may be faster by train, but it's much more enjoyable on the ship.

We arrive in Edfu late in the afternoon. We walk to the Kom Ombo Temple, a double temple where two gods were worshipped (Sobek, the god with the crocodile face, and Horus). The temple was heavily affected by the floodwaters, as it is located directly on the Nile riverbank. It has been restored over the past 70 years, but now it suffers from the masses of tourists. Apparently, the temple is now called 'victim of the Nile cruise' because it is located on the Nile route for tourist ships. Unfortunately, we also belong to the locusts that invade the temple.

A short walk from the ship and we're already there - Hoda tells us about the temple. Somehow I have forgotten a lot of it. Once you start to relax, you also become sluggish in your mind... But it's probably also because everyone in the group is sick now, and you can hear constant coughing, wheezing, sneezing, and blowing noses (but not from Hoda anymore). It reminds me of Kishon's short story about the cough concert during a concert visit. What remains in memory is mainly an illustration showing various medical tools and a list of what they are used for.

Let's call it a day and go to bed early.
