One night in Bangkok

Објављено: 26.03.2023

Day 19 (March 25, 2023)

What does it take for a restful night?

- Peacefulness

- Sleeping place/resting area

- Darkness

- Privacy

- No Asian women trying to sell you any s***.

- No fellow travelers smoking

We didn't have any of this on our train, or had an excess of it (see last two points).

As a result, our sleep was not very restful. In addition, the train was incredibly slow. So we arrived at the train station in Bangkok at around 10 a.m. with a delay of about two hours. From there, we took a Grab to our hotel (New Central Guest House). Luckily, we were able to check into our room right away.

After a much-needed shower and breakfast, we set out to explore the city. It quickly became clear that you can't joke about the heat in Bangkok. So we desperately looked for cool and shady places, such as shopping malls and supermarkets. There was a lot to discover at the markets in the city.

In the evening, we strolled through Chinatown, where we tried out the food stalls. We had never seen so many people in one place before. The Khaosan Road in particular, with its loud music and pushy locals, overwhelmed us. Throughout the day, Erik was approached about 40 times to buy a suit.

Around 11 p.m., we returned to the hotel and caught up on the sleep we missed last night.
