As promised, it's raining all day today. The numbers have risen to over 70L and because the ceiling is closing in on me in my room, I walked to Bohinjska Bistrika twice today. What's 30 minutes of walking to the next town? When I've been walking around 20km every day for the last week, which means all day long...
Because I didn't feel like running any more last night, after running almost 18 km and 1535 meters uphill and 1253 meters downhill. So this morning I borrowed an umbrella (I discovered in Croatia that my rain jacket was no longer waterproof) and walked the half hour to Bohinjska to buy breakfast.
I have been sooooo incredibly hungry for days!
My body wants to replenish the calories I burned during the long and strenuous stages and the sparse food I ate along the way.
It was good that I packed so much food. Just right. I now have enough food for 3-4 days, which will take me right through the mountains to the other side of the Soča (hopefully!). There will be shopping opportunities there again...
I feel a restlessness that only really becomes apparent when I stop at the Strud'l restaurant and sit outside on the covered terrace and take the time to write. As is so often the case, there is a deep sadness underneath.
I love being alone in the mountains, but at the same time there is a part of me that would like to have company.
And I realize how important it is to have time alone after the retreat. It's all still working inside me. And I'm impatient because the mountains are calling me. I love being in the mountains sooo much.
If only the weather wasn't so crappy. It's supposed to get better again from Thursday, so I'm going to have a really tight schedule!
I would like to have more time at the end so that it is not so stressful. I will have to run some really long stages to make up for the time I am wasting now. I would like to be on the train to Berlin by Tuesday morning at the latest! And I still have half of Slovenia ahead of me! It will be exciting!
