Cameron Highlands (MYS)

The Cameron Highlands are known for their tea plantations.

As the area is located at 1,500 - 2,000 m, it is cooler than the rest of the country - and with 15 - 25 °C, it is very pleasant there.

To see a bit of the Highlands, I booked a half-day tour. After a short photo stop at a tea plantation, we went to the Mossy Forest on the highest mountain in the Highlands. On wooden walkways, you can take a walk in the forest. Unfortunately, it was drizzling and visibility was limited.

Afterwards, we visited the largest tea plantation of BOH. There was the opportunity to take a short factory tour. The machines in this factory are from 1945 and it seems that hygiene regulations do not apply there (taking photos is unfortunately prohibited). This is definitely not a factory according to Western standards.

The tea plantation also has a large café with a terrace and a view of the tea fields. Fortunately, there was enough time for a cup of tea and a muffin :)

Lastly, we visited a butterfly farm. There were (large) native butterflies to see, but also many other animals. I found the chipmunks the cutest. But ultimately, I found this part of the program unnecessary because the farm is only made for tourists and that's not why I traveled to the Highlands.

Since there are many tea plantations and some tea houses in the Cameron Highlands, I hiked to another plantation. There, I enjoyed the landscape for a while with a pot of tea.

Cameron Highlands

The tea plantations of the Cameron Highlands are simply gigantic and beautiful. In my opinion, you should leave all the other 'tourist farms' behind and instead visit some tea houses with great views.
