Our next destination is the other side of Costa Rica: the Pacific coast. The bus takes us via San Jose to Dominical, a laid-back surfer town. We felt very comfortable as soon as we arrived. In Dominical we went on trips to 2 waterfalls, one being the Catarata Falls in Uvita, where there is a natural water slide. And the Nauyaca Waterfalls, which were very impressive and because we are traveling at the end of the rainy season, water gushes down. We arrived by public bus and therefore had to hike 12 kilometers there and back 🙃we didn't walk a few meters and a friendly construction site worker stopped in his truck and gave us a ride for free😃so we only had 2.5 kilometers to Nauyaca Falls . (the parking lot was 4km away from the waterfall) Once we got there, we enjoyed the view of the waterfall and the cool water before we went back down. On the way we also saw a few monkeys in the trees 🐵🐵Dark clouds appeared halfway and it started to rain. Here too we were lucky and a nice German couple even drove us back to our hotel.
We also went to the Parque Nacional Marino Ballena in Uvita. Ballena means whale in German 🐳. A protected area where whales and dolphins can be observed. And from above the tip looks like a whale's fin, which is particularly visible at low tide. When we arrived, the water had just reached its peak, we walked along the endless sandy beach and could watch as the water continued to recede and the whale's fin could actually be seen. A wonderful place ☺️
By the way, taking the bus in Costa Rica is also very interesting 😅We asked several people what time the bus from Unvita back to Dominical leaves. We were simply told 4 different times and in the end he came at a completely different time 😄, but he came. Most of the time we were the only tourists on the buses 🤷🏻♀️
Unfortunately, the visit to another national park didn't work out, we were already ready to leave and were waiting for the bus when, fortunately, we read reviews in which we found out that you had to book an online ticket 😕 and the tickets for the next day were fully booked 😪
Costa Rica is a country with incredibly impressive nature and wildlife 👍🏼we could have easily stayed longer. But for us we continue to Nicaragua 🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮
