Even the most beautiful place in the world has a flaw

We arrived at the new hotel. It is located at the bottom of the island, far away from major tourism. There are only a few, at most a handful, hotels and restaurants here. There is currently not even an asphalt road leading to our hotel - it is currently under construction.

And that's what it looks like on the beach too. There were only a few people to be seen on this white sandy beach, which was about a kilometer long. The water is crystal clear, the beach is surrounded by palm trees and other lush greenery. It's a sight that immediately jumps into the top 5 in our ranking of the most beautiful places.

But even the most beautiful place in the world has flaws. And we ourselves are to blame for it. All of us. Because (we later found out from the operators of a beach bar) the wind is “unfavourable”, the sea carries plastic waste from Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand into this bay. And that's what it looked like at one point on the beach. Not because people don't want to clean up here, but because they can't keep up with cleaning up after such windy periods.

Of course, the first step is to clean up in front of the resorts and hotels. And if you just stay there, you may never see any trash on Thailand's beaches. But if you walk a little further, to remote areas, you will find what humans are doing to nature. And seeing that always hurts a little. And reminds you that it starts with you.

We, each and every one of us, are responsible for the earth and our nature. So let's start with ourselves and make sure we handle it carefully and responsibly. And let us remind each other of this — for as long as it takes. And above all, let's help clean up the trash. If everyone picks something up and takes it with them, a lot has already been done.

However, even the garbage section cannot detract from the beauty of this place. And so we spend a wonderful afternoon here and are happy that we can relax with this view for another 3 days.

By the way, in the evening there was our first Thai thunderstorm. But anyone who thinks that it has cooled things down is wrong. It is usually much warmer here after the rain 😂

And so we look forward to another day in paradise and fall asleep to the sound of the sea and the sounds of the jungle.
