Dubrovnik - should you go there?

Објављено: 05.10.2018

Game of Thrones - the first thing that comes to mind for many when hearing the name of the city on the Adriatic.

But why should you go there?

Breathtaking views and a great atmosphere - that's what many people thought, which is why the city was very crowded in the early afternoon. You may come up with the idea of escaping the crowds and taking a walk on the city walls. Good idea, but it's a very expensive pleasure at 22 euros per person, like many other things in the Old Town of Dubrovnik. Food, souvenirs, and many other activities are disproportionately expensive - the stalls, shops, and excursion providers do not accept euros, so you have to exchange your money at one of the countless exchange offices. In Dubrovnik - the Old Town itself - we only spent about two hours, then we were done. The city is really beautiful and the buildings and palaces/churches have a captivating effect - the path made of shiny stones runs throughout the entire Old Town - in the end, we had the choice of walking through the city or taking the cable car to the mountain behind Dubrovnik - we decided against the cable car (20 euros per person) and wanted to go to Fort Lovrjenac - which is not far from the Old Town and offers a magnificent view. (Also see photos) Admission here was 50 kuna (about 7 euros).

All things considered - you should see Dubrovnik or the Old Town at least once with its unique atmosphere. Insider tip: visit from November to February - there are significantly fewer crowds and still over 10 degrees Celsius on average :)

In the next report, we will answer the questions about Montenegro and why wearing long pants in churches is beneficial.
