41 to Barbaste

Објављено: 29.04.2024

Distance 99 kilometers, cumulative 3,594 kilometers | Elevation 750, cumulative 28,550

My day today started with a lot of effort and it hasn't changed much. Anyone who knows me and knows how scared I am of ladders and steep stairs can imagine what it was like for me to get from the bed back to the safety of the ground. 😳

On the other hand, there was a big and positive surprise afterwards. It had been raining for a long time and that sounded good - in the little house. But the forecast said that it would rain like this (heavily) for about another 3 hours and only then would it get lighter. But just as I was about to set off, it stopped raining and it stayed that way all day. So I arrived in Barbaste completely dry.

But now to my next big effort today. Of the 100 kilometers I cycled, almost 40 of them were on single trails, i.e. unpaved paths through the wilderness. This used to be a railway line that was converted into a cycle path. Compared to the equivalent in Spain, this one was much worse in terms of the surface. And that was 30 kilometers in one go. I tried to capture that with various photos. But to really understand it, you have to do something like that yourself.

After that there was another stretch of about 5 kilometers and then another of about 3 kilometers. So almost 40% of the day's performance, which should be counted twice, at least as far as my tiredness is concerned.

I don't know what it would have been like with the rain that was forecast. It would certainly have been wetter, swampier and much more unpleasant.

Barbaste, where I am now, is another random destination. I saw a beautiful castle, which I photographed (you can find photos in this post). I took the opportunity to look online to see what options there were for overnight accommodation. The best and closest was the room at Loretta's, who gave me a very warm welcome. She also offered me hot English tea and a cheese sandwich in front of the warming wood-fired oven. Dear Loretta, thank you very much for that.

Today I worked hard and haven't changed much. Anyone who knows me and apart from the fear I have on the stairs and the empty stairs I can imagine that I was thrown out of bed and into a safe place. 😳

On the other hand, I was then given a great and positive surprise. I've been living there for a long time and I felt good... at home. But the pronouns say that he will say this (definitely) in three hours and only then will it become clear. But just when I got to the point of exhaustion, I stopped laughing and was like that all day. Because it came to Barbaste completely dry.

But now I'm trying hard again today. Of the 100 kilometers that were covered, around 40 were on singletrack, I decide, unpaved paths through nature. In this place there was also a train route which converted into a bike ride. Compared to his counterpart in Spain, clandestinity was very bad. Yes it was 30 kilometers once. Intended to capture this with various photographs. But to understand really, you have to do something like this yourself.

Then another tram of about 5 kilometers and then another of about 3 kilometers. He says, at least 40% of the daily yield should be compared twice a day, less in terms of respect for my salary.

Not like I had imagined with the rain forecast. They are duda, even more humid, even more dreary and much more disgusting.

Barbaste, where is now, I want to be an accidental destination. See a beautiful castle that was photographed (you can find photos in this publication). At this point I searched on the Internet for options to spend the night. The best and next was the room with Loretta, who gave me a very warm welcome. I also offered you hot English and a cheese sandwich in front of the fireplace. Hello Loretta, thank you very much for this.
