Day 7: Wellington

Објављено: 15.09.2018

Today is a big day for the All Black Fans because their team is playing against South Africa today. To truly be a part of it, I decided to buy an All Blacks jacket. To see the city from a different perspective, I'm taking a cable car up the hill. From up here, you have a beautiful view of Wellington. You can even see a small sandy beach. One thing that is always present in New Zealand is the wind.

Since I'm a bit tired, I'm going back to the hostel to recharge for the evening. It's also a good opportunity to study the rules of a rugby match. I'm still not completely clear on how the points are scored, but my strategy is to cheer when most other people are cheering.

Although I wrote to Trish, the New Zealander I met on the plane, I haven't received a response. That was a letdown. But it doesn't bother me much. I'm heading to the stadium and taking my seat. I have a good view of the field. The atmosphere is already amazing. When the New Zealand players perform their Haka (their battle cry), it sends shivers down my spine. The emotions in the stadium are overwhelming. The halftime score is 17-24 in favor of the South African Springboks. Can you believe it? The All Blacks actually lost. They are defeated by South Africa with a score of 36-34.

Today is a big day for all the All Blacks fans because their team is playing against South Africa today. To really be a part of this event, I decided to buy myself an All Blacks jacket. To see the town from another angle, I take a cable car up the hill. From here, you have a beautiful view over Wellington. You can even see a little sand beach. Looks like there is one thing that always follows you around New Zealand and that's the wind.

Because I'm a little tired, I go back to the hostel to get some rest and fill up my energy for the evening. It's also a good opportunity to study the rules of a rugby game. To be honest, I'm still not really familiar with how points are scored. But my strategy is to cheer when almost everybody else is cheering.

Even though I texted Trish, the New Zealander from the plane, I don't get an answer from her. That was a fail. But honestly, I don't really care about that. I'm on my way to the stadium and get seated. I have a great view of the field. The energy is already pumping. As the kiwi players perform their Haka (their battlecry), I get the shivers. The emotions in the stadium are overwhelming. The halftime score is 17-24 for the South African Springboks. Is that really possible? The All Blacks have indeed lost. They get beaten by South Africa with the scores of 34-36.

Hahah I’m DOWN for that as well Jaimito. Originally I wasn’t sure if I should go to South Africa or New Zealand tbh.
