THIS is Norway

New day, new luck. With the awakening, the rain had finally disappeared. The sun didn't shine with all its might from the sky, but it did in our minds. Even the burst breakfast eggs didn't matter. Oh well.

For the first time, our tour today was not planned until the end. Usually, if we had already chosen a place for the evening the day before, today we only had a direction in which we wanted to drive. This first meant: Find an ATM, because it never hurts to have some cash in your pocket. We reached that after about 50 minutes, can be crossed off the list. We continued south, and today the driving was fun.

Quite spontaneously, a highlight spot appeared out of nowhere, which we just caught. With screeching tires and a film-worthy right-turn maneuver on two wheels (well, here I'm exaggerating a bit), we took the exit to the parking lot in front of the Voss Waterfall. The sight that awaited us there is hard to describe! Even the pictures only capture a fraction of what you can experience there. Waterfall is not the right word, it is pure water play that winds its way around the rocks, even on the ground, this spectacle continues on its way. Thanks to the dry weather, Drohni got some flight hours again and captured everything from above. Insane!

After a while, we continued the journey and next we planned to install the GoPro on a parking lot in front of the Hardanger Bridge (suspension bridge over the Eidfjord) before crossing it. After all, this is the longest bridge in Norway, 1380 meters. Unfortunately, before that there was a tunnel, but we didn't realize that we should have driven straight ahead in the roundabout inside the tunnel to reach the parking lot on the other side of the bridge. Consequently, we came out of the tunnel and immediately there was the bridge. It's quite gigantic. Luckily, we found another parking lot behind the bridge to at least photograph it from a distance.

After some research, our intended direction was changed at short notice, and instead of driving further south, we went a short distance further east to Eidfjord. Another small sleepy village that thrives on tourism, as there is a dock for cruise ships there. Souvenirs, gastronomy, and hotels make up the place. We didn't see a ship, but we did treat ourselves to a good lunch there. The landscape around the fjord is beautiful... in the middle of the fjord, the mountain peaks rise up into the sky on the left and right, which were once again shrouded in fog today.

Rain slowly started again and we set out for the final stage: finding a campsite. Our camping app suggested a small but idyllic place in Øvre Eiderfjord, again located by the river amid the mountains. We'll take that. There's plenty of space here too, after us there was only one more motorhome on the site, the rest consists of bungalows. We quickly unpacked again and then discussed what to do with the remaining rainy afternoon. As if ordered, the Norsk Natursenter was directly opposite. A kind of 3-story museum with a cinema about Norwegian nature, climate, environment, and the Hardangervidda National Park. There you could learn a lot about the development of Norway over 400 million years, the life of Norwegians in the past and present, the prevailing wildlife, and much more. The highlight of it all was a 25-minute film filmed from a helicopter flying over fjords, plateaus, mountains, and valleys in the region. These impressive images were shown as a panorama film on 5 adjacent screens. When the helicopter made a turn, it felt like a 3D movie and you were sitting in the helicopter yourself. It was gigantic!

When our thirst for knowledge was quenched, we took a short walk around the square and then returned to the motorhome.

After this eventful day with many experiences, fantastic spots, and a distance of 125 km, we treated ourselves to pizza for dinner at the campsite restaurant. 3 beers of 0.4l each for 24 euros, that's something you can treat yourself to. But we should have known beforehand that a large pizza is easily enough for 4 people. We ordered 1 large and 2 medium ones. We rolled out of the restaurant afterwards...
