Good morning!
It's wonderful here, 30 degrees, good food, lovely people, and lots of new input... So we spontaneously decided to stay a bit longer in Ubud and move (as a Christmas present) to a hotel with air conditioning and a pool - have we mentioned the amazing and warm weather yet? ;-)
Today, we had another excursion on the agenda... this time to a workshop where traditional Balinese craftsmanship is taught up close. Impressive!
You can already see a lot of the incredible talent in the houses and temples, especially in the field of wood carving - which, by the way, works excellently with fruit as well.
Ubud is known for its wood carving art and there is a lot of batik, which rarely has anything to do with hippie clothes, but rather with large pieces of fabric with wonderfully intricate patterns.
Then we were allowed to choose a craft and create a small work with some support from the goddess Sarasvati :-)
Afterwards, as always, we ate excellently.
You might be familiar with Nasi Goreng by name at least, fried rice with vegetables and egg, and chicken if you like - unfortunately, there is no beef available. Unlike the rest of Indonesia, Bali is almost completely Hindu, so cows are revered here and they indeed look very pretty.
Fruits and vegetables are of course incredibly delicious, diverse, and fresh, while everything else is usually fried and not quite as light.
Alternatively, you can go to one of the numerous yoga/hipster cafes and eat vegan raw food, for a lot of money of course.
After a delicious dessert with coconut ice cream and mango cheesecake (!!!), we will soon be sleeping to be ready for new adventures tomorrow.
Stay tuned!
