With a heavy heart I took the ferry from Gili T to Nusa Lembongan. I decided against the famously popular Nusa Penida with the T-Rex rock because riding a scooter there is said to be so dangerous and there is no other way around the island. Right next to it is Nusa Lembongan. Unfortunately it was a bit emptier than expected and also full of couples and families. I was the only one in my hostel. It was the first time I had a private room in 3 months, but it was a bit too lonely for my liking. On none of the three days could I bring myself to rent a scooter and explore the island. So every day I hung out at a new beach bar slurping overpriced coconuts and inhaling fried noodles (Mie Goreng). Was nice too! Candra from the Gili T Hostel (the oasis) wrote to me and asked me to have a bed available if I wanted to come back on New Year's Eve. I took advantage of this straight away and the decision was quickly made to go back to Gili. Originally my plan for Indonesia was just to relax and get to know the culture, as I needed a break from sightseeing and planning. So I chugged back on the hot, crowded little ferry, overjoyed. With 1000 other people because EVERYONE seems to want to go there for New Year's Eve. Well, I could have imagined that too... The others who had left Gili at the same time as me also came back and I made a few new acquaintances in the hostel. So I had a good group to celebrate with on New Year's Eve! These days were completely different than my first week in Gili, as I was more partying and exploring the island instead of diving. I rented a bike (the Slow Bro, see license plate) for several days and cycled over the bumpy, sandy roads.
