Feb 8th: In the morning, we are suddenly woken up by Bo, who comes back from jogging and excitedly tells us about dolphins in the bay. We quickly gather ourselves and run like crazy - some of us still in pajamas and as best as we can with a baby and a child with limited mobility - to the beach. And then we are simply overwhelmed by the sight of several dolphins swimming around us. The dolphins are so close that you could almost touch them. We are speechless with happiness and fascinated by the beauty of these animals. Only Ma is skeptical and at four years old, the dolphins seem quite big to him. And too close, so he prefers to go back to the mainland/beach and watch the whole spectacle from there. The kids are just as fascinated as we are and even our baby Le kicks wildly when the dolphins swim towards us. We stayed at a campsite in Dolphin Bay yesterday and it lives up to its name. The dolphins are very curious and swim around us for a long time. Since Fa is not allowed in the water due to the cast on her leg, we carry her in and quickly realize how heavy she is in the water.
We decide to stay one more day at the bay, where about 200 dolphins call home. In the afternoon, we barbecue on the beach as the sun sets. Ma discovers chasing seagulls and tires himself out. Our little one with the cast on her leg practices walking on crutches diligently. Despite spaghetti arms, she gets the hang of it after a short time. And we end the day at Dolphin Bay with a walk along the bay.
