HDB Housing in Singapore

Lolomiina: 19.11.2024

Anyone who has read my Singapore blog posts or Instagram posts from the last few years will always discover HDB architecture. HDB is the state-owned housing company that builds entire urban districts. I really like this architecture and the living environment, which leads me to visits. This year I am visiting an old historic complex and brand new residential buildings. Selegie House in the Rochor district is one of the oldest HDB residential complexes, which opened in 1963 and was originally designed as a rental housing project for low-income citizens. It comprises three main blocks, the highest of which has 20 floors and was once the fifth highest residential building in Singapore. Construction was completed in a record time of 18 months. The modern residential complex I visited is in the Queenstown district. The Skyresidence@Dawson is one of the tall residential buildings on Margaret Drive, which particularly shine with their multi-story gardens. I visit the garden of Block 35 on the 27th floor. From up here I have an excellent view on both sides because there are no other high-rise buildings blocking the view. For the residents, these gardens are oases of relaxation at high altitudes with great views.
