Another month has passed and it's time for an update. Besides our short vacation on Phillip Island, there were a few other highlights this month.
At the beginning of February, Chinese New Year was celebrated big in Chinatown. With lots of dragons and firecrackers, the Year of the Pig was welcomed. It was great to witness. On the same day, we visited a Zine Fair and were overwhelmed by the wide selection, so we ended up buying a gift for someone else. Culinary wise, this month was exciting again. Besides Mathias' nightly noodle soups at Dragon Hot Pot and several servings of dumplings, we enjoyed a multi-course meal at 'Transformer', a great vegetarian restaurant, indulged in a delicious Chinese meal (although one could argue about the deliciousness of pig's feet) and had a nice Indonesian dinner with one of our roommates.
It is still summer here, although autumn occasionally makes an appearance. The hot temperatures provide us with a constant selection of delicious fruits, which our house gets 90% from a dumpster (the rest is freshly picked, for example from the passion fruit tree just around the corner), as well as all our vegetables, which we definitely don't lack.
Even though we already know some corners of Melbourne, there is still a lot to discover, which we gladly do when it's not around 40 degrees and the sun is beating down on us. We finally managed to capture some of the amazing birds in photos and 'finally' saw our first Huntsman spider, right in our room - great...
We still love Melbourne very much, but we're also looking forward to hitting the road again in a few months and are already diligently planning our travel route.
Work-wise, there are some news for both of us. Lea recently joined a second agency as a Disability Support Worker and has been absolutely busy with work since the end of the month. Mathias has quit his job at the fancy fancy Vue de Monde and will soon take over the kitchen at a cafe where one of our roommates works. Even though he started to feel more comfortable at Vue de Monde, this change presented itself and offers a great opportunity to lead a kitchen for the first time.
We'll keep you updated and always love to hear from home, read or see. By the way, flights here only cost 850€ round trip - so... visits are always welcome ;)
