Lolomiina: 24.07.2024

Overview of today's stage

After having mastered the off-road route from the Black Sheep Camp, Fia and I enjoy the Apuseni Mountains on the Transursoaia in bright sunshine.

The panorama is fantastic, the roads here are all new.

But every now and then there's a bull standing around the bend in the road 🐄.

After a few asphalt sections, we head off-road.

Then home, where Mama Manu serves me my first Romanian doner kebab 😁

Then I drove the 108j behind Hued. Beautiful route, varied, winding and goes through a gorge that is reminiscent of Cheile Bicazului.

The Apuseni Mountains tour ends in Garda de Sus. I decide to drive to Deva. So I turn right onto the gravel road 162 along the Dizdit and then continue 25km on the gravel road Drumul Iancului past Avram Iancu to Bulzestii de Sus.

Drumul Iancului

Drumul Iancului with Avram Iancu
The Drumul Iancului is a symbolic hiking trail in Romania that connects the historical places linked to the life of Avram Iancu, a Romanian national hero. The trail stretches for about 45 kilometers, from Vidra de Sus in Alba to Țebea in Hunedoara. This trail was created to honor the memory of Avram Iancu and to preserve the history and culture of the region. Every year in September, people from all over Romania gather to walk this trail and visit the historical sites.

From there continue on asphalt via Brad and Salistioara to Deva.

This time, the La Cetate camping site is located at the foot of a castle ruin. The evening ends with Palinka and Manele music 🥳.
