Brisbane welcomed us with rain. At least the temperature was pleasant.
I had teamed up with an older American couple who had booked a boat trip to visit the koala sanctuary. We took a taxi into town and to the boat dock.
Unfortunately the boat trip was fully booked. So I went exploring alone.
During my hike I discovered and toured the Police Museum. Quite interesting! First time I saw a real police taser.
Next I went to the town hall. I found very beautiful monuments on the town hall square. It was very busy there because there was an election taking place. Nevertheless, I got to the 3rd floor, where the "MoB" is located, without any problems. the Museum of Brisbane is located. Works by local artists are shown there.
I quickly got through the exhibition and then wanted to fulfill my wish for an Indigenous Australian lunch. It was only with the help of the Internet that I was able to locate a gallery for indigenous art with an attached restaurant.
In BIRRUNGA I finally had the choice between emu, kangaroo and crocodile. I chose the latter. Very satisfied, I went on the hike again. I visited ANZAC Square with its many statues depicting Australian soldiers.
I gradually walked back towards the river where I wanted to meet up with my fellow travelers. On the way there I took a look at the "GoMA", the Gallery of Modern Arts, the State Library, the Art Museum and the Museum of Queensland. In a park by the river I tried to photograph very pretty birds.
Finally my traveling companions returned by boat and our pre-booked taxi took us to the ship.
In the evening I unexpectedly had a big performance. The Australian comedian and juggler Steve Allison, who made us laugh with plenty of dark humor, chose me as his stage partner and jokingly wanted to teach me how to juggle three real axes. Finally he contented himself with chopping up a carrot I was holding in my hand with the axe. My participation earned me the applause of many and the praise of some fellow travelers.
