Lazy Achensee

Breakfast on the balcony!!! 👍🏻 So I only start comfortably around 11am after several coffees.

The goal is the Rofan , a mountain range above Maurach on the Achensee , which belongs to the Brandenberger Alps .

Up there you can take small hikes and see glaciers and the Achensee and the surrounding peaks. It takes about 45 minutes by car from my apartment. All parking spaces at the valley station are full. Even the various relief parking spaces.

I drive around the village, but at some point I am 3 km away from the cable car and that's too stupid for me, as there is still no space to be found there. So I drive somewhat aimlessly along the right shore of the lake to the tip of the lake to see if the chairlift goes to another peak, but it is not in operation 😞. So I turn around and drive back on the federal road towards Maurach and turn off at a parking lot halfway.

The place turns out to be really nice. Although parking for 4 hours costs 6 euros, but there is a kiosk, a great sunbathing area, benches and few people.

Besides, there is a pier for the lake cruises. I sit in the sun for a good 1.5 hours and enjoy the incredible view of this extremely green, clear lake between Karwendel and the Brandenberger Alps .

It is too cold to swim, otherwise there would be more people in the water. I research that it is 16 degrees and up to 133 meters deep and with the appropriate amount of sunshine, you can look 10 meters deep. Quite impressive!

I start a lake cruise around half past three and enjoy the views, see many hikers on the other side of the lake on their way to Gaisalm , it is certainly crowded on these narrow trails today.

That was gross recent. I take x photos 😁. It's just too beautiful here, I have to capture it somehow 📷🎬😎. I get off at Scholastika at 5 p.m., one stop further than where my car is. A beautiful lakeside path of 30 minutes in the decreasing sun, which disappears behind the high mountains on the other side of the lake - and I'm at the car. I roll onto the farm shortly after 6 p.m. and treat myself to a warm dinner.
