Last night we had a Posada at our place. This is a Mexican tradition during the Christmas season, in which the search for lodging by Mary and Joseph is recreated. The guests divided into two groups and each took on the role of a host and Mary and Joseph. With a candle in hand, a song was sung. After numerous dance performances, group dances, and games, a piñata was hung. It is a large star-shaped figure made of papier-mâché, filled with candies. I was blindfolded and armed with a stick to try to hit it and destroy it. Meanwhile, the piñata, which is hanging on a string, is moved. Everyone takes turns, but only for the duration of a specific song that is sung.
Today we went to church again and afterwards everyone came to our place for sushi. The friends stayed until evening as we watched a movie and played volleyball.
