Our first big bus trip with Stray takes us to Paihia, Bay of Islands (Northland).
On the way north, we made a stop at the majestic Kauri trees. They are the oldest and largest trees in New Zealand and are revered by the Maori and Kiwis. The oldest Kauri is several thousand years old with a circumference of 30m.
After four hours, we finally reached Paihia! We shared a room with eight other travelers (only Netherlands).
We quickly put on our bikinis and headed to the beach!
It wasn't easy to find a shady spot, but the view of the sea was indescribable!
For about five years I tasted salt water again and it was great! The refreshing seawater was a perfect way to end this hot day!
In the evening, we played a few rounds of pool with our fellow travelers (we are not good players!!!) and ended the evening with a glass of wine!
Tomorrow we have a long day ahead of us! We are visiting the northernmost point of New Zealand, Cape Reinga!!
