Our northernmost destination should be Cooktown, so we drive the long, kilometer-long straight roads through the wilderness. Our path is lined with thousands of termite mounds, a few houses, and occasional cows.
Arriving at our destination, we notice that it still looks very antique here and there has been little change in the last decades.
We drive up the mountain to the James Cook monument and look out over the area and the sea. We also explore the Cook Museum with interest and educate ourselves a little further.
At the harbor, we briefly try our luck at fishing before heading to the Outback for the overnight stay.
Surrounded by cows, we wake up and make our way to the road where we will spend the next few hours.
After the long drive, we check into a nice campsite near Cairns and spend the last days in our camper.
