Petrified Forest

Lolomiina: 03.01.2019

Translated, it means petrified trees. Patagonia was once underwater, which is why petrifications are often found here. Additionally, something unique happened here. When the trees died and were submerged underwater, they were surrounded by minerals, which prevented them from decomposing and turned them into stone. In the national park, you could find these tree stumps everywhere. These trees have been lying here for 65 million years, hard to believe. Additionally, you can see colorful mountains here that display the different layers of the ground from that time. A beautiful and, as always, windy outing.
