My last weekend in Windhoek

Lolomiina: 04.06.2018

On Friday, after work, I laid by the pool, went to the gym in the afternoon, and in the evening, I met up with some people from Salsa at a restaurant. It was nice to chat with them, and we also had the opportunity to dance a bit. On Saturday morning, I did my laundry one last time and transferred my almost 12,000 photos and videos to my hard drive, which Jeannie's mom kindly brought for me. Afterwards, I went into town with Laura. We had one last coffee together and looked for a dress for my friend Sarah's wedding, which is coming up in August 😉 Then we drove to the Basketball Artist School, where our friends Lucas and Ella work. Ella had an important game against the first team, which they had never won against before. But this time, they finally managed to win.

In the evening, Laura and I had dinner together and looked at photos. On Sunday morning, I went to the gym again before accompanying Laura to the airport around noon. It feels strange to say goodbye to the last volunteer before Jeannie and I go home on Thursday. Laura is from near Augsburg, but I still hope we will see each other again soon. From the airport, I went straight to Lucas' basketball game, where I met up with some of the new volunteers. I'm becoming a real basketball fan 😉🏀 In the evening, I processed the rest of my groceries, as the fridge slowly needs to be emptied. On Tuesday evening, we want to go out for dinner together again, and on Wednesday, we will cook or barbecue together at the house.

Today and tomorrow are my last few days at school, and as expected, I'm alone with my class. On Wednesday, I will visit the soup kitchen again and say goodbye to the children and the staff there. Thursday will be all about packing, and I hope I can fit everything in my suitcase. Around 3 pm, we will head to the airport. My feelings are very mixed and difficult to define. A mixture of sadness, excitement, and uncertainty. But since I have already said goodbye to my loved ones and leaving the project isn't as difficult for me as it is for the other volunteers, I am looking forward to seeing my family and friends, to Cologne, to dancing, and so much more ❤️

See you very soon!!
