Today we drove from the Pacific coast to the Japan Sea coast in Kanazawa for about 3 hours with the Thunderbird. We passed directly by Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan. In Kanazawa, there were thick clouds and very humid weather, but no rain/storm, so we could see some sights. The hotel is close to the beautiful castle and the Oyama Shrine. Both are very worth seeing and can be explored in peace. We also went to the small samurai quarter, but it was already dark, so there wasn't much to see. We walked a bit through the evening city along a small canal, where there are many nice cafes and shops (also closed), and suddenly we were back in front of the Oyama Shrine. However, you could still enter the premises and admire everything again in the lantern light. Our hotel here has an onsen again, and we absolutely have to go there! And one more thing, the city is apparently famous for its gold leaf. And it seems to be applied to all sorts of things!? Maybe we'll try the gold-coated cake...
