On Saturday morning, Claudi and I set off with Emily to Estavayer-le-Lac for the 'VW Bus Party au Lac'. 😝
The fastest route took us on the highway via Bern to Payerne and from there on the main road to Estavayer. Shortly after 12 o'clock, we arrived at the festival site by the lake next to the campsite and found a free spot on the grass to park. We 'installed' ourselves on site, took out the camping chairs and table, and the pop-top roof was raised.
We took a first walk through the many rows of VW buses. From VW T1 to T6, from well-maintained, 4WD, military-style or rather rusty and with 'patina', with a caravan or trailer, there was almost everything to see here. There was also a stage for the evening music, a festival restaurant with various food trucks, and some sales stands, as well as a tattoo and barber shop truck.
We returned to Emily with a portion of Rösti, drank an Eve, and watched the hustle and bustle around us. Especially our neighbor (or was it a neighbor after all 😳🤔) across from us with his 'Pink Lady' caught the eye of every visitor. A converted T3 flatbed truck with 2 extensions, all in pink and plush and bling bling 😂. Our Valais neighbor gladly showed off his vehicle to anyone who walked by and posed for photos. It was great entertainment for us!
Afterwards, Claudi and I took on a challenge 😊. We set up the sunshade! No retracting blinds, but assembling poles, hanging the sunshade, and securing the cords with pegs on the ground. But we also mastered this hurdle as a team 😝👍!
We took another walk to the lake shore and through the old town and enjoyed coffee and cake. It was nice to have some time to chat 💬💬💬 again.
In the evening, there was live music and we sat in the festival restaurant with our crêpes. Unfortunately, the music was so loud that we couldn't talk to each other anymore, and it had also gotten quite cold by then, so we went back to our bus. We got 'bed ready', turned on the heater, slipped into our sleeping bags, and watched a movie on our phone. It was really cozy! 🤗
Shortly before midnight, we turned off the lights and fell asleep despite the loud music. Apparently, we were pretty tired after all. We woke up one after the other shortly before 2 o'clock. The music was still playing so loudly 😩! It wasn't until half past two that peace finally came... 😏
The next morning, we got up at half past eight. It was still cloudy and relatively cold. Now we had such a beautiful and hot summer, and of all times, a cold front came during the Bulli Weekend... So we enjoyed our breakfast in the warmth of the bus. Freshly showered and packed up, we then set off on our way home. After refueling on the way, we arrived back home after a 2-hour drive with little traffic.
A very cozy 'Bulli Weekend' came to an end. We will definitely participate in another VW bus meeting. Maybe then in Château d'Oex at the international meeting at the end of August 2019... 🚐😍👍
Thank you, Claudi! It was so much fun! 😘
