Muxia, a dream to relax

Lolomiina: 20.11.2023

Muxia. I arrived. I like this place and have been to Muxia on every Camino de Santiago. I could actually imagine moving here when I'm old and spending my twilight years here. There is something magical about this place. When I arrived, I first walked through the alleys and then slowly found my accommodation. I booked the Muxia Mare accommodation on my first stay and found it to be very lovingly furnished. There is a curtain on each bed for some privacy. There is real bed linen (For some this statement is a little irritating, because this is what every hotel requires, but in the hostels there are usually disposable sheets that are as thin as paper and therefore tear very quickly. They are also very rough and sometimes 1 or 2€ is charged. And that's why you appreciate it when a hostel has real bed linen). Then I took a warm shower for half an hour with a strong jet, which unfortunately is not a given. I met someone from Cologne directly opposite. The world is that small. Then I chilled in bed for a bit and then went out to the water. The place is so small that of course I know all the good spots. Unfortunately, the bakery that I think is great is temporarily closed and the restaurant that I wanted to try is on vacation until December. There's always something, but I sat as water and watched the waves. I can do something like that all day long. In addition, the sun came out, but it was already cold due to the wind. That's why I went back to the accommodation and put on long trousers, shoes and a long sweatshirt under my jacket. Well prepared against the wind, I set off and hiked over the rocks. I wanted to do that last time, but my feet hurt too much in my hiking boots. But now I don't have any problems and so I was able to choose a nice spot and enjoy the sun, even though the wind was already blowing hard. Then I went down to the church and to the 0.0 km stone, paired behind it with a monument for pilgrims. Behind it there is a special rock that you should stand under so that your sins can be forgiven or you can stay healthy or something similar. I read it in a brochure the first time, but I don't remember exactly. Then I went up to the summit and there was a nice view there. There I met my roommate from Cologne again and we chatted for a bit. There was still something left there, but I went back to the accommodation and did some shopping. At first I thought I'd get a pizza or something simpler, but I've been craving eggs for days. And so I conjured up scrambled eggs with onions, tomatoes, corn and cheese, with baguette and a large salad. It tasted great and that is another advantage of this accommodation. The kitchen is in good condition and well equipped. After I ate, I let the evening end, chatted with others for a bit and then went to bed. It'll be weird tomorrow not having to get up early and pack your things. But I'm happy that I'll be spending the day in Muxia tomorrow. I'll cook here in the accommodation as I still have a lot left, but I'll go back to the water and definitely have a coffee or two.
