After breakfast, we want to visit the Wave Rock again. We walk a few meters from the campsite to the parking lot and start marching. After a photo stop, we climb the Wave Rock. From the top, you have a beautiful view of the surroundings.
Today we are heading south back to the coast. Our destination for the day is Esperance. There and in the surrounding area are said to be the most beautiful beaches in Australia. Of course, we want to see them.
The further south we go, the greener the landscape becomes. You can also clearly see that there is much more cultivation. We arrive in Esperance around 3 pm. We don't feel like staying at a 'normal' campsite. We want nature! So we decide to drive another 60 km to Lucky Bay in Cape Le Grand National Park. We refuel in Esperance, get some water, milk, and bread, and empty our toilet at the public dump station. The water tank of our Maui is empty. We didn't refill it at Wave Rock because we thought we would get to an organized place today. In the information brochure about Esperance, we read that there is recycled water at Lucky Bay. So we're good and ready to go.
At the exit of the town, we are a bit unsure. There is a signboard that says A Bay Campground closed. We don't know if this is referring to Lucky Bay. We check the website of the national park again. However, we can't find anything. We take the risk to drive there. At the entrance to the national park, we are already euphoric. There is a sign that says Campsites Lucky Bay Available. Yay - we're coming!
There are still some spots available and we decide on number 33. The campground at Lucky Bay is great. From our pitch, we have a view of the bay. That's what we hoped for. The facilities (camper kitchen with water, toilet, and shower) are also top-notch.
We cook pasta with salmon. The rangers come by to collect the camping fee. We see kangaroos and take a short walk to the beach. We're happy in Lucky Bay.
