Day 24: Karratha - Exmouth

Lolomiina: 06.10.2018

Today we have another long day of driving ahead of us and then we will have a vacation within our vacation. We are really looking forward to the next few days at Ningaloo Reef.

We have breakfast and Michi goes swimming in the pool with the older kids. Elija takes a morning nap and I take care of planning/booking for the next few days. We want to go to Exmouth, Cape Range National Park, and Coral Bay. Coral Bay will have to wait since the campsites are fully booked until Saturday. As the Osprey Bay Camp in Cape Range National Park (supposed to be beautiful and we really want to go there) is also fully booked, we decide to spend the next 4 nights in Exmouth. Then we will go to Cape Range National Park. We have booked one night at Camp Mesa and two nights at Osprey Bay online. The end of our Ningaloo Tour will be Coral Bay (plan is for 2 nights).

At 10:30 am, it's time to hit the road! The kids watch tablets and sleep. We make good progress and drive until Nanutarra Roadhouse (which is about halfway through our day's journey). We are already familiar with this place from our trip here. We refuel and grab a snack. Then we continue driving. The kids are behaving very well, so the more than 500 km drive is no problem.

We made it just before 6 pm. We check in at the first campsite in Exmouth - RAC Cape Exmouth. At the reception, they tell us that several Austrians have already checked in today. We make a quick stop at the pool and then decide to take a warm shower. It's significantly cooler here compared to the far north. I cook sausages with potatoes and sauerkraut, and Michi takes the older kids to the campground's children's program (Outdoor Movie). After the long day of driving, the kids fall asleep quickly tonight.
