Saying goodbye to Sequoia National Park was difficult - but what is the West Coast without a visit to Yosemite.
On the map it's only a few centimeters, but after just crossing the valley from one national park to the other, it took almost 5 hours to get there.
Even the entrance from the west was impressive. Yosemite is indeed a natural gem, even though we only visited Yosemite Valley. It accounts for only 3% of the NP's total area, but is preferred as a main destination by 95% of visitors.
Since we are already in the off-season, the crowds were manageable - especially if you hiked a little further away from the center.
A beautiful natural valley surrounded by high rocks and a green-blue river in the middle.
Great for hiking - but beware the sun disappears behind the mountains and you find yourself in the backwoods!
Hundreds, if not thousands, of small flies circle your head, fly into your ears and mouth and drive you crazy.
We ran “for our lives” the last kilometer of our hike.
Rarely have we been so happy about “civilization.” Maybe it was a sign that a shower would be in order again 😉.
