Hello 😊
Now the time has come, my big adventure is about to begin. 😊 In order to take you all with me at least a little bit, I have decided to create this travel blog. Here you can follow my route and get some impressions through pictures and experiences.
It feels like it was just yesterday when I submitted the application for a sabbatical at my workplace and now it's already time? Crazy. Behind me are a few turbulent months full of planning, anticipation, worry, fear, courage, excitement and happiness. It was clear to me that I absolutely wanted to travel around the world with a backpack again. At first, the implementation felt like a huge, almost insurmountable challenge, but my decision was made. Said and done! So I submitted a leave of absence request, sublet my apartment, and took care of a good solution for my dog Dexter. In theory, it seemed quite simple at first, but in practice, of course, a thousand questions are swirling through my head. Is it a good idea to travel alone? Have I taken care of everything? Is anything missing? What do I do if something goes wrong? How will Dexi be? What does the budget planning look like? Is it the right time? Probably nobody can answer these questions properly, but I am sure that at the end of the day, everything will happen as it should and that everything will be fine. Super good even!
Last week, my first destination was home, including a short vacation with my mom, sister, and Dexter in Heiligenhafen. We had great weather and a great (initially) last time with the family. The last two days I spent storing and storing the last things, packing my bag, and organizing the last things.
On Thursday, the first long-haul flight is scheduled. Destination: Panama. Except for the first two nights in a hostel in Panama City, not much more is actually booked or planned. From now on, the motto for 8 months is: go with the flow. The rough plan initially includes about 14 weeks of travel and volunteering in Central and South America. How, when, where exactly? No idea. But I will keep you informed. Since I didn't want to subject my dog to a long-haul flight, he gets to vacation with my parents on their farm in Schleswig-Holstein during that time. Although I don't want to think about saying goodbye to the stink bear yet, I think this solution is the best for both of us. After my trip in South America, I will pick him up to travel through Europe together. On this note, I would like to say a big thank you to my parents. I wouldn't have entrusted my dog to anyone else for such a long time.
And to everyone else who has made the effort to read this far: Thank you for your support during the last period. I will miss you! Hold the fort in Germany and please send ransom if the mafia has kidnapped me. :D
You will hear or read from me soon!
