The week started for me in Monfragüe National Park. As hoped, I found peace and nature here. The national park is known for its birdwatching. In the picture in the gallery, you can see the two bird rocks. What you can't see are the dozens of birds circling and flying here. Unfortunately, my camera is not made for such shots.
Afterwards, I found the most beautiful pitch in ages. It was made beautiful by its view of the lake, the solitude (I was not lonely, only the pitch was ;-)) and the beautiful sunset right outside my living room window.
That's what traveling with a motorhome is all about. The view changes almost daily, and if it's beautiful, you can sometimes stare out the window for hours.
But the next day, the city had me again. I went to Toledo. Toledo was highly recommended to me in advance.
I usually don't visit churches or only a few, and when the admission for the cathedral was 10 euros, I was close to not going in. I'm glad I did. The cathedral is probably the most beautiful one I've ever seen. Thanks to the free audio guide, you also spend a relatively long time in it.
But otherwise, Toledo convinced me, the old town is simply beautiful!
The next day, I continued to Cuenca. Since I hardly or not at all inform myself about the cities in advance, I didn't know what to expect. I only found out on site that Cuenca is known for its houses built into the slope. The old town is now also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Because I liked it so much, I changed my sleeping spot after the first night and went hiking in the gorges around Cuenca the next day.
The new parking spot turned out to be a well-known insider tip. I had forgotten that it was the weekend and even a long weekend due to Carnival. The Spaniards themselves like to travel with a motorhome, so I found myself in a parking lot with 20 Spanish campers. At least there are no real tourists present ;-)
