Who would have thought that such an event would take place in Eggenstein (a few kilometers north of Karlsruhe)! On September 3rd From 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. COOKING WITH FRIENDS finally found its place again in GARBO 2023. This event has been going on for many years - for example at the EDEN on Bahnhofstrasse Karlsruhe, before the Kazda and Dorrit Gulden family took over the LÖWEN in Eggenstein (including the hotel under the management of Ms. Gulden). But then the pandemic put an end to the fun.

Now it was finally that time again, and the cooking friends of the owners of GARBO, Marcel and Hermine Kazda, were invited from all over Germany and came to Eggenstein. On the garbo im Löwen homepage you will find everything you should know under “current” to get an impression of the guest chefs and winemakers. It's worth it - I promise. Philipp Spielmann, the master of all drinks, and an ambitious team of helpers ensured smooth service.

The menu today ranged from A for oysters and aperitif bites to G for flamed miso salmon and J for scallop to P for press sack.
Those who cooked included Sören Anders, Andreas Laux, Sven Hemann, Thomas Winkler and Norman Wegner (forgive me for the chefs who are not mentioned by name! It can all be found on the above-mentioned page). Really all the chefs delivered fantastic food.

There were also lots of winemakers from the area, as well as the WUNDER-BAR, which offered the aperitif. We already knew many winemakers, and we were happy to meet well-known producers again: HEITLINGER winery, BURG RAVENSBURG winery, the Braunecker family's BOSCH winery, WAMBSGANSS winery and the SCHOTT winery from the Nahe.

Plus the HETTIG distillery from Durbach, with a great range of brandies, gin and whiskey. The well-known MEIER bakery and the LUDWIG patisserie were also on site. BERND GLASSTETTER's butcher shop also once again supplied the legendary Black Forest ham. There was also a plentiful selection of cheese. Wonderful conclusion to a successful culinary trip.

An iconic red/white VW bus also invited people to take souvenir photos. Also a nice idea. Since this date has a special meaning for us, we now have a photo like this hanging on our walls.

There are many beautiful photos on the "garbo-loewen.de" website and everything else can be found there too. Take a look and perhaps reserve for next year: it's worth it, especially since nothing stands in the way of an overnight stay if you reserve in good time.
