When we arrived after a 16-hour drive at 6 a.m. at the hostel, we were pretty exhausted from the bus ride. After finally finding a nice cafe for breakfast, we had a little bit of energy again. Just enough to make it back to the hostel and to our room. Completely exhausted, we treated ourselves to a nap.
Afterwards, we explored the city (unfortunately in the rain) and ended up in a big and exciting building where there was a nice cafe (with disgusting cake). Then we accidentally ended up in a super big and crazy supermarket underground, where Christmas atmosphere was already in full swing!
In the evening, we went to a crazy bar ("Maze") with the other travelers from the hostel, which was built like a cave or a labyrinth and consisted of several levels. The afterparty took place in the hostel's rooftop bar. We left the party too late once again. Because the next day, we were expected for the waterfall tour at 7 a.m.
Our guide was very nice and knew a lot - he was already 80 and very educated. We visited many different waterfalls, a coffee plantation (Vietnam is one of the largest exporters!), a grasshopper farm (but we didn't really want to try the fried insects), a silk factory (did you know how silk is made?!?), and a greenhouse (in Da Lat, flowers are already planted for New Year, it is a tradition to give them as gifts). At the coffee plantation, we drank a coffee made from weasel droppings. The animals only eat the shell of the coffee beans and poop out the peeled coffee beans, which is then used by humans. But honestly, we couldn't taste a difference to regular Vietnamese coffee. Afterwards, we took a ride on a toboggan track. Unfortunately, we didn't have as much fun because a slow grandma in front of us was constantly braking. The day was super exhausting because the schedule was very tight. We were very hungry and had very little energy left. Unfortunately, the lunch was super gross, so in the evening, we finally treated ourselves to a really good pizza at a real Italian place with a stone oven! After that, we fell into bed completely exhausted and decided to leave the next day around 11 a.m. because we didn't really like this city (maybe also because of the rainy weather and the not so clean hostel with mold in our room).
