On December 31st, we started the day with a birthday breakfast. Padi is now 24 years old 🥂. We had two gluten-free cakes from the supermarket. Australians in the Northern Territory rarely bake because the oven is too hot. There is a huge selection of ready-made cakes here. Unfortunately, we were disappointed, the cakes were too sweet. Homemade is and remains the most delicious. After breakfast, we went to the whirlpool to cool off a bit. For lunch, we made homemade gluten-free pizza. We relaxed and watched the Nuhr im Ersten Jahresrückblick. After a few more drinks, we went to the waterfront, where there was live music and it felt like all of Darwin had gathered there. After the 'family fireworks' at 9 p.m., most families went home. We also went home briefly to have another pizza. Together with Vanessa, we celebrated Patrick's birthday and watched the fireworks in Sydney on TV. Then we went back to the party. Together, we celebrated the new year 2018 with a huge, beautiful fireworks display. It was a great and very warm day/night. We had 36 degrees during the day and still 29 degrees at 1 a.m.
