Welcome to Kakadu-park

Publikovaný: 03.10.2018

As expected, the night was a challenge. It was hot and cold, the slightly padded board was hard, and if you turned abruptly, you felt like you were at sea, rocking the camper.

No, we haven't bought air mattresses yet, but we saw a cheap one at 'K-Mart'. Tonight, I'm giving the car another chance to convince me that camping vans can be comfortable.

Today, we had to say goodbye to the Lee Point camping area as we made our way to Kakadu National Park. The drive from Darwin to the national park is 140 km long. 140 km lined with countless trees and an seemingly endless lonely road. Occasionally, a truck with 3-4 trailers passed us. I think 2 cars overtook our ship. There were 2 school bus signs along the way, but there was no house in sight..

After 2 hours of driving, we were finally greeted by the sign 'Welcome to the aboriginal land of Kakadu', the land of the indigenous people and crocodiles.

Today, we had our first encounter with the infamous annoying flies that constantly fly into your mouth, eyes, and ears. We had only read about them so far, but today they became a reality. Annoying little creatures. There haven't been many of them yet, but starting tomorrow, my mosquito head net will be added to the backpack essentials along with sunscreen, insect repellent, a sun hat, the 'Du bist Lauenau' flag, and the colleague photo.

We thought the first campsite was already bad, but when we finally arrived, we realized that it was nothing compared to our current one. However, we have seen kangaroos, geese, and cockatoos hopping and flying right outside our door, which makes up for a lot.
