Love love love. Oh yes, I am totally impressed by this city and my hostel. I'm already advertising everywhere haha :D
I chose the Casco Viejo Old Town of Panama City. I simply love the atmosphere of such cities and it's incredibly fun to just stroll around and admire the old houses.
If you want a change, you can easily go to the modern district. I recommend going up to a hotel to see the skyline. For example, from the terrace of the Hardrock Cafe, which is only open on Wednesdays to Sundays. It's good that we tried it on Monday and Tuesday. In hindsight, we're always wiser. The others were then on the Trump Tower with an infinity pool and I have to say, not bad, great view :D (Unfortunately, the photo is not mine)
The easiest way to get around here is with "Uber", which is usually cheaper than any taxi. I had never heard of this app before and I just have to tell you about my first strange Uber experience:
His name was Carlos, around 50 years old. He picked me up from another hostel and was also super nice. I spoke as much Spanish as possible with him. At some point, he said, you want to learn Spanish, then sing along with the songs, it's easier that way. Uh, me with my angelic voice. Nah, you go ahead and I only understood a quarter of it anyway. Then the typical conversation: Where are you from? How long are you staying? Do you like it here? Fine and dandy, but then "hey, I think you're very beautiful" oh, thank you, well, I'm getting out here and I'll walk the rest :D He even said I could contact him. Oh yes, definitely, dear Carlos, that's a great idea :D Don't worry, he was the only weirdo, my other Uber rides were great.
Oh, and I was here in the football stadium for the first time. Panama against the USA (World Cup qualifier). I didn't think it would be so much fun, I could really get used to it. Had the full experience with flares, and when a goal was scored, everyone jumped up and the tray of a nice gentleman dropped on me along with beer and rum. Yeah, beer shower. I probably smelled like a walking schnapps shop :D
And no, I didn't go to the canal. Some are thinking, wait, Panama Canal, if you're already there. People, it's just a canal, nothing more. I saw a photo, that's enough.
I had to reluctantly say goodbye to you, "Oh beautiful Panama", and it was time for me to move on to Cuba
