14.10.2016 Fortrose - Isle of Skye (Portree)

Publikovaný: 14.10.2016

In the night it actually rained and it drizzles when we wake up. We have a longer drive ahead of us today. Actually only 188km, but the navigation estimates 3 hours driving time. We're going to the Isle of Skye, first to Portree.

The way there takes us through valleys like the ones you only see in Western movies. Completely lonely, vast, great colors, huge lakes and wild rivers. Some of the roads are very narrow, but Grandma is coping well. You could stop and take pictures every few meters, but of course we don't have the time for that, so as always Valentina takes pictures from the car. The sky is still gray and it drizzles occasionally, but the weather gets better over time and when we arrive in Portree it's dry again.

At noon we reach Portree, where we stay at the 'Torvaig' campsite. We have a cup of tea and then walk the 3 km to the village. It's not particularly exciting, but it has a very famous harbor road. On almost every picture of Skye you can see the colorful houses in the harbor of Portree.

Even though the place is not spectacular, moving around is definitely good and we also treat ourselves to a cappuccino in a café. So refreshed, we hike back again.

On the campsite, Valentina and I go on a little photo safari. We can already see the 'Old Man of Stor' from a distance, which we will visit tomorrow. It's only about 10 km from here.

Afterwards, Valentina cooks us a delicious dinner. In the meantime, the perfect division of labor has developed with us. Valentina cooks, I wash the dishes and Grandma, who is always the first to wake up, makes breakfast. So everyone is happy!

Old Man of Store... ist das dieser spitze Fels? Da habt ihr uns wieder wunderbare Bilder mitgebracht. Und das Essen sieht sehr lecker aus!
